The company was first incorporated as Naanovo Energy Inc. in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in September 2001. In March 2002, Naanovo entered into an agreement with two Swedish companies for the rights to market and distribute WTE technologies and waste heat recovery systems utilizing Swedish technology. In November 2004, Naanovo Energy USA, Inc. was established in the State of Nevada to develop the US market and in May 2005, Naanovo Energy USA became the global headquarters for the company with an office in Lincoln City, Oregon, later moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In August 2007, Naanovo moved its global headquarters back to Canada, operating out of the nation's capital city of Ottawa, while maintaining a representative office in Florida.
Over the years, Naanovo has made enhancements to its WTE plant design and has added Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) to its clean energy mix. Today, Naanovo prefers to utilize "best in class" and "best available technologies" for its clean energy projects using a variety of suppliers and OEMs. This allows the company to focus on developing projects rather than technology which represents a much higher value proposition to the company and its stakeholders.
In addition to its North American presence, Naanovo also operates in London, England, Sao Paulo, Brazil; San Salvador, El Salvador; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Kampala, Uganda; Lagos, Nigeria; Banjul, Gambia; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Agent representatives are also located in Hanoi, Vietnam; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Tirana, Albania; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Beijing, China.
